Assistant Registrar (Human Resource Management and
development)

This is an exciting opportunity for a person looking for a challenging and

modern university in Malawi.  We are seeking a high performing manager
with experience of working in large and complex organisations, one who will
combine a strategic approach to HR with excellent operational delivery and
customer focus.  The post holder shall be under the
direction of the
University Registrar and be responsible for facilitating the development and
implementation of Human Resource Management and Development policies and
procedures as they relate to the University’s Strategic Plan

Serving as Human Resource Manager of the University by providing professional
support for human resource functions and initiatives, Ensuring consistent and
accurate interpretation and application of human resource policies and
procedures, Initiating the development of annual and long-term Human Resources
plan that identified the Human Resources agenda as a critical component of the
overall strategic growth and development of the University, Facilitating the
development and implementation of Human Resource Management and development
policies, Handling staff recruitments, staff training and development,
performance management, staff vacations, management of dispute and grievances,
Managing labour relations by negotiating, administering and interpreting
collective bargaining agreements, Processing for staff clearances and
applications of employment permits for expatriate staff, Arranging orientation
programmes for newly recruited staff members, Assisting
the University Registrar in servicing University Committees

A minimum of 3 yrs work experience in Human Resources Management and
Development, Impeccable understanding of Malawi Labour and Employment Laws and
the Pension Act in particular and the Malawi legal environment in general,
Strong interpersonal, teamwork, and communication skills, Experience in
managing employee relations, recruitment and wider HR services, Ability to
effectively lead and develop a d professional team, A good understanding of
organisational and management challenges and the ability and drive to manage
complex processes,

The successful candidates should be highly motivated,
display initiative and independence, have good interpersonal and communication
skills and strong organisation capabilities and have good verbal and written
English communication skills, The candidates should possess a n MSCE plus a
Diploma in relevant subject area, Those with relevant degree qualification from
a recognised University shall have an added advantage
