Kettle Creek
Conservation Authority is seeking a conservation area coordinator to supervise
and implement the day-to-day facility operations of Dalewood Conservation Area.
Job duties include: staff scheduling, general maintenance, enforcement of rules,
and communication with campers.
The ideal candidate
possesses: a post secondary education in parks management, effective
communication and interpersonal skills, and strong customer service skills. The
ability to work weekends, evenings and statutory holidays is mandatory.
Familiarity with CAMIS software is an asset.
This is a permanent
full-time position. Salary range: $43,963 – $52,211/year plus an excellent
group benefits package.
The Conservation
Areas Coordinator is responsible for all matters related to daily
operation, maintenance and management of their assigned Conservation Area.
The Conservation Areas Coordinator position is that of a working
supervisor of seasonal and contract staff. The Coordinator is part of the
KCCA staff team, reporting to the Director of Operations.
The responsibilities
of the Conservation Areas Coordinator include:
1. Participate with
issues recognition and problem solving, involving all aspects of
the operation, including handling user conflicts and customer service issues.
2. Lead with and
participate in the supervision and implementation of day to day facility
maintenance.
3. Supervise
seasonal staff assigned to conservation areas, allocating personnel
to specific duties and shifts, maintenance of staffing schedules, and
hire/discipline seasonal staff.
4. Monitor the
purchase of goods and services as per the KCCA Purchasing Policy
and Procedures manual for the operation of both Conservation Area gate
houses; and report any budgetary irregularities to the Director of Operations
and/or the General Manager/Secretary Treasurer.
5. Available on-call
during the entire camping season at the assigned campground unless
otherwise arranged with the Director of Operations and or the
General Manager/Secretary Treasurer. This entails working most weekends
throughout the summer, working extra or extended hours when needed, and
working shift hours on a regular basis. This is a necessary prerequisite
for employment in the position.
6. Enforce the
conservation area regulations and KCCA’s Zero Tolerance Policy, and to
prepare occurrence reports. This includes the processing of evictions,
maintaining confidential enforcement files, and immediate referral of all
appropriate investigations to police authorities.
7. Monitor and
ensure the safety of staff and the general public at all times,
including prompt implementation of KCCA safety recommendations, except
those requiring approval of the Full Authority.
8. As related to the
responsibilities of the position, ensure that any pertinent safety regulations
and accepted procedures are enforced and adhered to, and that appropriate
safety training for seasonal staff is secured.
9. Communicate all
policies, guidelines and recommendations of the Authority to all seasonal
staff under supervision.
10. Assist with the
off-season management, maintenance and development of all Conservation
Areas, including Lake Whittaker, Dalewood and Patterson/Bucke and Kirk
Cousins.
11. Assist in
conservation area communication initiatives such as: the
campground newsletter and seasonal camper letters.
12. Prepare seasonal
camper permits and agreements, allocate seasonal campsites, and prepare
trailer storage permits and agreements, and maintain seasonal camper files.
13. Administer the
on-site reservation and accounting program, including all
accounting report submissions, deposit records and reconciliations,
collection of all funds owing, staff training, and other duties as
assigned by the Director of Operations.
14. To maintain
consistency of information, prices and material between the Conservation
Areas and between KCCA and the Conservation Areas.
15. Assist with
supervision and implementation of routine facility maintenance.
16. Any other duties
as may be assigned by the Director of Operations and or General Manager/Secretary
Treasurer.
- Post
secondary education in parks management or related resource
management discipline. - Knowledge
of the day to day operation and maintenance procedures of a
CA including the operation and maintenance of equipment. - Knowledge
of related safety procedures. - Ability
and aptitude to enforce conservation area regulations. - Experience
in preparing reports, budget estimates and personnel supervision. - Ability
to work well independently and in a team environment. Ability to
maintain good working relationships with staff. - Excellent
analytical, problem solving, interpersonal, organizational
and communication skills, tact and judgment. - Availability
to work weekends, evening and statutory holidays. - Ability
to organize and implement detailed work schedules and priorities. - Strong
customer service skills. - Basic
accounting knowledge. - Familiarity
with computers, including campground reservation software. - Valid
Ontario Driver’s Licence.
