Job Duties/ Responsibilities/ Accountabilities:
• Responsible for all the financial functions including formulation of appropriate strategies of the business to achieve its goals.
• Manage the annual budgeting process.
• Keep the Board informed of all matters of the business’s performance on key financial metrics.
• Apply insight and understanding to the financial performance and contribute pro-actively to the strategic and day-to-day commercial decision making process, drawing attention to important opportunities that will maximise profits and minimise risk.
• Institutionalizing a culture of rigorous financial analysis for the purpose of supporting major business decisions.
• Ensure that all financial matters are undertaken in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, the group’s accounting policies and all other applicable regulatory guidelines.
• Control the operating expenses and the capital expenditure programme to ensure adherence to budget limits and relevant authorisations.
• Ensure that the annual accounts of the Group are prepared in a timely and accurate manner.
• Take a Leadership role in fund raising and financial institutions relationships.
Key Performance Indicators/ Performance Goals:
• Accurate and timely management reports (including management accounts).
• Regular and effective cash flow planning.
• Timely preparation of budget.
• Efficient budgetary control and feedback.
• Cost minimisation programs.
• Adherence of terms of lenders .
• Timely and accurate published accounts.
• Regulatory compliance; efficient internal control processes.
• Analytical support to all departments.
• Deployment of an effective MIS/ERP system.
• Team development.
Ideal Experience & Attributes:
* 10+ years experience in senior finance / accounting positions, ideally as CFO of a similar sized business / financial controller for a similar sized division.
* Experience of implementing and using advanced management information / ERP systems and producing detailed KPI reporting for stakeholders (ideally with the Navision system).
* Experience of managing complex supply chains, a diverse distribution network and optimising significant inventory levels.
* Emerging market and especially East African experience would be an advantage.
