Position
Summary
IREX
seeks a Program Coordinator for its Civil Society & Media Leadership
Program (CSML)to work in the IREX office in Monrovia under the supervision of
the CSML Chief of Party (COP). The Program Coordinator will serve myriad roles
working among the program’s senior management team to support technical
activities, office operations and local staff mentoring particularly on budget
and grants management processes. The Program Coordinator will also support the
Chief of Party in ensuring coordination and synergies across program
objectives, activities and departments. This is a position that offers an
individual the opportunity to develop skills across the spectrum of program
implementation areas but in a challenging environment that requires a
commitment to working closely and earnestly with local staff and
stakeholders.       
Duties
& Responsibilities
 
Ensure CSML activities are in line with annual work plans and activities follow
established logical framework approaches; Coordinate monthly work plan
development process.
 
Provide general backstopping and support to the COP, civil society and media
specialists as well as finance, M&E, gender, youth and grants management
staff.
 
Assist the civil society and media staff in creative development and
implementation of program activities, including approaches to training and
mentoring civil society and media stakeholders and the use of SMS technology to
augment program activities and objectives.
 
Assist with the management and build capacity of grants officer, the finance
and administration manager, and finance and administration assistant.
 
Support the M&E manager, grants officer and finance and administration
manager in monitor grantees’ activities.
 
Work closely with the grants manager to track grants and project grants
 
Together with other program staff, generate comprehensive reports for program
funders and other audiences.
 
Monitor financial reporting, review budgets and expense reports.
 
Coordinate CSML staff in writing, editing and formatting of program publicity
and information for the DC Communications division.
 
Participating in the research and development of new program initiatives.
 
Ensure effective communications and information sharing with IREX/DC
backstopping staff
 
Other tasks as requested.
Qualifications
Ÿ 
Experience working abroad on media, civil society, gender and/or youth
development programming
Ÿ 
Experience working on peacebuilding projects in post conflict environments
desirable
Ÿ 
Background with gender in development programming or gender mainstreaming
desirable
Ÿ 
Strong understanding of financial and grants management on USG funded programs
Ÿ 
Strong computer and writing skills
Ÿ 
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills and
experience managing teams
Ÿ 
Ability to work independently and skilled at handling multiple tasks
Ÿ 
Experience with USAID/Department of State project design and grant management
