partners with universities to create and conduct UG and PG courses on their
campuses powered by content that is industry endorsed using contemporary
pedagogue, with trained faculty who are subject matter experts, usually with
industry experience on the subjects that they are teaching.
The
company has seen three rounds of venture capital funding via Gujarat Ventures
Limited, Ascent Capital and the last round via Bertelsmann.
With
a core business model that has been proven, the company is now poised to scale
both its classroom presence across locati

ons, extend its expertise into blended
and online distance education and also into University services, all as part of
a phased expansion. iNurture is today managing around 150 classrooms across its
partners which are expected to reach 500 in next 3 yrs.

We
are now setting up a new campus in Kigali, Rwanda for which we are looking at
recruiting few leadership positions such as Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice
Chancellor, Registrar, HOD, Controller of Exam etc…
Job
Description for Academic HOD
The
HOD is the chief academic and administrative officer of the Faculty/ School.
HODs report directly to the Pro Vice Chancellor/ Deputy Vice Chancellor. The
Departments dealing with allied subjects could be grouped into faculties/
schools. Each of the faculty/ schools will be headed by HODs who exercise
supervision over the academic divisions of the University: the Faculty/ School
of Life Science, Faculty/ School of Commerce, Faculty/ School of Management
Studies, Faculty/ School of Information Technology, School of Humanities and
Social Sciences and Students Welfare. Each HOD will assign instructional and
other responsibilities of respective faculty; recruits faculty; recommends promotions,
tenure, and salaries for the faculty; supervises faculty-student relationships;
develops budget requests and controls budgeted funds; and is responsible for
the academic excellence of the individual unit.

emoluments and other terms and conditions of service of the HODs shall be as
may be prescribed by Rules of the university.

    doctorate qualification in a relevant degree
  • Must
    be a highly visible, creative, innovative and imaginative individual that
    reaches out to the University and overall community through organizing
    activities and programmes such as cultural galas and festivals
  • A
    track record of teaching, research, publication with distinctive
    experience in leadership administration
  • Proven
    experience in writing grant proposals and obtaining academic grants.
  • A
    broad knowledge of the faculty’s diverse disciplines including music,
    history, modern language, sociology, psychology and environmental studies.
  • A
    clear vision for on line education and distance education for the Faculty.
  • Sensitivity
    and commitment to living in an international and multicultural environment
    would be advantageous.
  • Commitment
    to the maintenance of high standards of ethical behaviour among staff and
    students.
  • Ability
    to liaise with donors and funding agencies to mobilise financial resources
    to promote the faculty.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible
    for generating a direction and path for the Faculty by developing long
    term objectives and strategies.
  • Ensuring
    that appropriate systems to support strategic objectives are developed and
    implemented through formulation of budgets, resource allocation, total
    quality management, external income generation, staffing matters and
    community liaison.
  • Developing
    professional relationships at all levels within the organization and
    externally with appropriate stakeholders to enrich the training programmes
    offered by the Faculty.
  • Integrating
    technology into learning environment for courses within the Faculty.
  • Leading
    the development of course curriculum and review.
  • Developing
    long -term staff plans taking into account retirements, professional
    development of faculty members and recruitment of new staff.
  • Developing
    and reviewing overall university academic policies.
  • Allocating
    adequate teaching load to qualified teaching staff within the Faculty
    where necessary recommending for the appointment of part time staff.
  • Encouraging
    improvement in teaching and professional development among all members of
    the faculty.
  • Building
    and maintaining close relationships with alumni and the community and
    other stakeholders.
  • Operating
    as a member of various university committees including Senate.
