Reporting to the Agriculture Manager, the successful candidate

BSc in Agriculture Engineering/Irrigation
Engineering/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Knowledge and skills in Planned
Maintenance, Sound technical knowledge of Irrigation Systems, Demonstrable
understanding of applicable standards in logistics and cane supply, Extensive
leadership and managerial experience with good business acumen, Over 5 yrs
experience managing sugarcane farming using irrigation systems or managing
logistics and vehicle workshops
Engineering/Electrical/Mechanical Engineering, Knowledge and skills in Planned
Maintenance, Sound technical knowledge of Irrigation Systems, Demonstrable
understanding of applicable standards in logistics and cane supply, Extensive

Leading the Cane supply by setting performance standards, managing
the cane transport scheduling system, communicating with the haulage contractor
and monitoring performance of the contractors so that daily Factory cane supply
requirements are met, Coordinating the operations of the transport and
logistics by planning for the maintenance of vehicles, monitoring vehicle usage
and vetting the purchase of new fleet vehicles, Managing plant maintenance
system for the irrigation services, Leading and managing the electrical
infrastructure, refrigeration, utilities supplies including plumbing services,
Leading and managing people in the irrigation, transport workshop and cane
supply section by ensuring their personal development and growth, performance
management systems are in place and discipline is maintained, Managing and
controlling the Irrigation, transport and cane supply operational and capital
budgets, Providing technical advice to Agriculture Management on the
maintenance systems for canal, pumps, motors, transformers and overhead lines
on the Estate during the season and offcrop to ensure continuous irrigation and
potable water availability for the entire Estate, Managing the electrical
maximum demand for the Estate by making sure the Estate does not exceed the
limit and that there is effective and efficient power distribution by liaising
with ESCOM on the budgeted power demand to ensure that the Estate is adequately
supplied with power at all times, Leading and sustaining the implementation of
SHERQ statutory requirements and Illovo Group standards in the Irrigation,
Transport and Cane Supply Sections
