Pay: $15 – $18/hour

Evidence for Democracy (E4D) is the leading fact-driven, non-partisan,
not-for-profit organization promoting the transparent use of evidence in
government decision-making in Canada. Through research, education and issue
campaigns, we engage and empower the science community while cultivating public
and political demand for evidence-based decision-making.

We are seeking an exceptional organizer to expand our impact and presence
across Canada. The organizer will be responsible for working with our staff,
supporters and volunteers to coordinate events and meetings, while recruiting
and working with volunteers across Canada. Responsibilities also include
supporter engagement, outreach, fundraising, social media and some
administrative tasks.

Requirements
• Based in Ottawa
• Fluent in English (Bilingualism an asset)
• 1- 3 years of organizing experience
• Independent, self-motivated, and able to work with a team
• Media and social media skills and experience
• Fundraising experience an asset
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with event planning and management
• Experience with facilitation (anti-oppression training an asset)

Responsibilities
• Identify new individual supporters
• Further engage existing supporters
• Plan, coordinate, and execute public events
• Develop media and communications plans for events
• Assist with coordination of public events across Canada
• Identify new partner organizations and engage them in E4D’s work
• Create and disseminate quarterly newsletter
• Coordinate supporters/volunteers to carry out E4D events and tasks
• Fund development from individuals, as well as foundations and organizations

• Familiar with the issues surrounding science policy and evidence-based
decision-making in Canada
• Driven to achieve E4D’s mission and outcomes
• Clear, succinct communicator
• Strong leadership: proactive at management and communication
• Able to easily develop, maintain and deepen positive interpersonal
relationships
• Able to systematically assess, analyze, and tackle complex problems
• Excellent time management skills; ability to set priorities
• Ability to successfully translate ideas and visions into actions
• Ability to work independently and self-manage
• Experience working with smaller grassroots, advocacy organizations
