Title: Program Coordinator, Kitchener – Waterloo Region Consultant
Overview: This key opportunity for an independent consultant in the
Kitchener – Waterloo region willcoordinate and support Evergreen’s
local activities by engaging a local team of volunteers. This position
will suit a motivated, self-starter who will be the first point of
contact for inquiries in the KW area. S/he will also work closely with
Evergreen program staff, based in Toronto, as well as a growing
network of Evergreen Coordinators across the country.
Key Responsibilities:
Volunteer & Community Engagement (65%)
• Serve as the local Evergreen representative and build a network
through community outreach and engagement
• Ensure volunteers are well matched, trained, supported & recognized,
including organizing annual/seasonal recognition events
• Enrich the volunteer experience through leadership development,
diverse recruitment strategies and building long-term institutional
partnerships
• Ensure that accurate records for volunteers are kept
• Work with program staff to build relationships with local partners,
enhance Evergreen’s visibility, and deepen community engagement where
we work
• Assist the Senior Manager, Volunteer Engagement in expanding the
volunteer program in KW and across the country.
Local Program Support (20%)
• Coordinate and help facilitate corporate or community events at
restoration sites, community gardens, etc.
• Support Evergreen’s local Greening Associate with projects on school grounds
• Coordinate local learning opportunities and networking events (eg.
workshops, webinars, etc.)
• Support other local Evergreen needs, including fundraising for local support.
Promotion & Communications (15%)
• Participate in outreach and networking activities including
presentations and media opportunities
• Build awareness of programming in the Kitchener – Waterloo area by
writing blogs, PR releases and documenting projects with photos and
video.

Qualifications:
• 2 years post-secondary education or equivalent experience
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Previous experience as a volunteer and engaging volunteers required
• Computer literacy and fluency with Microsoft Office required
• Familiarity with institutions and populations in the Kitchener –
Waterloo area preferred
• Facility with social media, presentation tools, and public speaking preferred
• Familiarity with Evergreen’s work and mission an asset
• Proficiency in oral and written French an asset
Working conditions:
• This position is a part-time position based in the Kitchener –
Waterloo region. Some evening or weekend work will be required on
occasion. Many events will take place outside, rain or shine.
Terms: This is a part-time consultant opportunity (average 16
hours/week), times varying depending on needs.
