The Ecological Farmers Association of Ontario (EFAO) is looking for a
motivated and organized individual to help plan training events for
ecological farmers across the province. To celebrate the
organization’s 35th anniversary we are planning a number of workshops,
courses and speakers tours, and an Event Coordinator is needed to help
with all the details involved in organizing these trainings. The
position will provide opportunities to participate in training events,
connect with Ontario’s ecological agriculture community and take part
in a dynamic grassroot co

mmunity-oriented organization dedicated to
supporting farmers!

Position: part time, 20 hours/week, offered through the Youth
Employment Fund (see eligibility criteria below)
Duration: August 4th – December 19th, 2014
Compensation: $16.50/hour
Location: Guelph, Ontario

Responsibilities
• Coordinate with venues and suppliers
• Work with website and graphic designer on outreach and promotion
• Compile and print materials
• Coordinate online registration and payment
• Communicate with workshop participants
• Liaise with workshop presenters
• Take care of registration on site
• Coordinate site set-up
• Keep and share appropriate records
• Document events (blog post, pictures or video)

Skills & Assets Required
• Experience coordinating events
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Timely and attentive to details
• Relationship-building skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to see tasks through
• Experience working or volunteering with non-profit organizations
• Familiarity with the broader ecological farm community in Ontario
• Access to a car and valid driver’s license
• Ability to occasionally work on weekends

Eligibility
This position is being offered through the Ontario Government’s Youth
Employment Fund (YEF). After being selected by EFAO, candidates will
also be interviewed by a program representative. Eligibility criteria
include the following:
• Between 15 – 29 years old
• Unemployed
• Not participating in full time training or education
• Resident of Ontario
