Do you ask people to turn off their engines when parked?
You can be part of the pollution solution by heading up expansion of an IDLE FREE program to schools and the community in Peel region this year.
We are seeking an experienced, innovative, self-starter who is currently asks people to turn off their engines when parked.
Traits needed: well organized; works on own well; always seeking opportunities to spread the message through the media/schools/neighbours/church groups and community groups and the public.
BE IDLE FREE FOR THE KIDS is our message. We are an experiment that aims to engage the public in a worthy goal of not idling their engines near children, in their driveways or in the community, for the environment, to save money, to be green, for the health and safety of our children and families, for safe and healthy neighbourhoods and as a common courtesy to bystanders.
Our target are school buses who sit idling in front of schools, parents who drive to schools, neighbours who idle 1/2 an hour in their driveways each morning, city transit and their fleets who waste taxpayers money by idling, truckers, road crews and fleet drivers from businesses who leave their engines running for hours each day while working nearby.
All these are totally unnecessary forms of air pollution which can easily be prevented by simply turning a key OFF.
Our challenge is to create a worthy emotional reason to change such as the health of our children. With the ever increasing price of fuel, we can show drivers how they can save $300 a year in fuel by not idling while preventing family ailments.
FACTS:
• Today’s cars DO NOT NEED TO IDLE TO warm up. Simply start and drive. Many myths exist that we need to inform and educate the public on.
• Excuses and many myths are the top reasons why people idle and why municipalities
• City fleets and city buses can save taxpayers millions of dollars while showcasing to the public what a responsible city does to walk-the-talk by not idling themselves.
• Canadians waste over $1 billion each year by idling their engines.
• Over 5000 Canadians die prematurely each year due to smog and air pollution.
• We all have the KEY to be IDLE FREE. Use it!
Does this resonate with you? Are you excited that you can be ‘unleashed’ to spread the word to as many people as possible? Then lets talk.
