NPOWER BENEFICIARIES DESERVE PERMANENT AND PENSIONABLE APPOINTMENT
I will like to use this time to implore the federal government , Honourable Minister of Humanitarian Affairs ,Disaster Management and social Development ,Hajiya Sadiya Umar Faruq, all the stakeholders in N-Power program to think deeply before any action is taken on disengagement of the beneficiaries.
The stipend that is given to the beneficiaries serve as subsistence wage which is meant purposely for feeding. Things may not be so easy for a beneficiary who is receiving 30k at the end of the month when he is denied to receive his alert again! What do we think will happen to beneficiaries whose source of manhood lied on this money when the money is seized to enter? the stipend paid to each of the beneficiary can never be enough to take care of themselves ,their wife and children talk less of setting aside certain part of it for saving.
If they have been disengaged without proper consideration ,they must have engaged in one thing or the other to keep their lives going on which may be injurious to the country’s stability. A proverb says: “a hungry man is an angry man”
If Nigeria government can’t give N-power beneficiaries permanent job,
then they should give them meaningful exit package that can allow them to stand on their feet and not to depend on government in the future. If the government fail to do one of the two which means the purpose of creating this program is meaningless.
Giving N-power beneficiaries permanent appointment shouldn’t be a difficult task if what its contained in our national goal is utilized: “a land full of bright opportunities for all citizens” We once again implore our beloved president Muhammad Buhari , Honourable Minster Mrs Faruuq Sadiya and other stakeholders in npower program to reason beyond 2 years agreement set aside for the expiration of the program.
We want President Muhammad Buari to be well pondering on this issue because if N-power beneficiaries especially(batch A) cannot be given permanent appointment, the purpose of creating the social investment program is worthless because “the taste of yesterday’s lunch cannot be felt in mouth in the following morning”
The stipends that were paid for the past years were just for feeding and transport.
Nothing to save out of the stipend .For a family man, how can he be managed 30k for feeding himself, his wife and his kids in a month and still be expecting to save out of it?
Giving N-power beneficiaries a permanent work is a strategy to reduce crime, armed robbery and also reduce insecurity in Nigeria because the youth are the ones involve mostly in crime related issues and social vices in the country. Their engagement in anything might be a great trouble to the country at large. An adage says: “idle hands are the devil’s workshop”
Nigeria youth need job; the left universities as graduates for many years now without work.
Probably if the permanent job couldn’t work for the beneficiaries ,prepare a meaningful exit package not just an exit package but meaningful and sustainable exit package for each of the beneficiary. But if the two cannot be happened then continue pay them their stipend until they are gainfully employed in order not to put the country into a great danger. “Little things are little things but at times little things matter most”
