improving food security and enabling economic recovery in six refugee camps
located in Rwanda.

conscientious individual to join its team in the position of Nutrition
Technical Coordinator. The Nutrition Technical Coordinator is a member of the
Programs Technical Advisor Team, and is responsible for the planning,
organizing, coordinating, implementation and performance reporting for
specified Nutrition grant/s and activities targeting refugee camps where ARC
operates in Rwanda.

MAJOR

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Contribute
actively to the strategic planning and development of nutrition project
design and efforts for the Rwanda program. - Establish
nutrition project management system/s for proper planning, implementation
and monitoring of activities, including work plan, regular spending review
meetings and project monitoring sessions. - Provide
technical supervision of all assigned nutrition project staff to ensure
project performance according to work plans, procurement plans, standards
and indicators. - Monitor
and review nutrition project activities with appropriate, pre-determined indicators,
making appropriate changes where necessary, in conjunction with the
national Health & Nutrition Advisor and relevant Rwanda programs and
support staff. - Implement
all nutrition project activities including behavior change communication
in the target camps, including but not limited to: selection and training
of volunteer animators, identification and engagement of relevant
stakeholders, delivery of awareness raising activities, support to and
supervision of animators, and monitoring and evaluation - Maintain
contact and coordinate with relevant organizations working in the camps to
ensure coordination of activities and messages related to nutrition - Liaise
regularly with all relevant sectors in the camps (livelihoods, hygiene and
sanitation, health and nutrition) to identify behaviors that affect
nutrition and that need to be addressed - Liaise
with graphic artists, donors, partners and government counterparts to
develop and approve materials targeting behavior changes in nutrition
- Train,
coordinate, supervise, and coach nutrition animators/health and nutrition
staff /camp leaders for the prevention of malnutrition through BCC in the
five targeted camps - Assist
communities in understanding the implications of healthier nutrition for
their families and empower them to adopt the necessary changes - Motivate
and encourage leaders and influential individuals to become involved in
community mobilization activities that support healthy nutrition practices
and programming. - Support
nutrition animators to form and support groups of men and women (community
dialogues, mother to mother support groups, parent evenings)as per the
action plan, to explore behaviors around nutrition and advocate for
changes around all factors that affect nutrition - Design,
plan, and coordinate mass activities such as theater events, sporting
events, cooking demonstrations, breastfeeding promotion campaigns, film
screenings, and concerts to promote nutrition messaging, explore behavior
around nutrition, and advocate for changes around all factors that affect
nutrition - Document
nutrition program experiences to share with other agencies, organizations,
and institutions and for ARC use.
EDUCATION,
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
TECHNICAL SKILLS & KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
- Minimum
of Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Public Health or related health-field
from recognized university. Masters level qualification preferred. - Minimum
6 years’ direct experience providing technical support, staff supervision,
project management and leadership and reporting for Nutrition programming - Extensive
knowledge and experience in Behavior Change Communication programming
approaches. - Demonstrated
program management and budget management direct experience, preferably in
refugee settings and/or in developing country contexts. - Strong
programs coordination and leadership skills with proven ability to support
and mentor multiple staff members remotely - Experience
training and leading multi-cultural teams made of INGO staff, local
government representatives and camp/community leadership - Strong
project performance management and report writing required. - Demonstrated
experience in design, deliver of program related training and presentation
skills required. - English
fluency – both oral and written required.
