Correctional Centre,
named in recognition to the major contribution made to its operation by the
local community. It is a low to medium risk security prison for males, based in
Ararat, 200km from Melbourne in the Grampians region. It is one of our most
recently revamped correctional centres with modern features and comfortable
facilities.

Kal Kal Prison
is a minimum security prison based in Trawalla, 150km West of Melbourne in the
Grampians region. Inmates are involved in paid work in a variety of trades,
which assists the individuals gaining skills and certificates that c

in finding a career once released. The inmates use communal areas such as
kitchens and bathrooms, where interaction amongst the inmates is higher,
assisting in their transition back into society.

Your
day-to-day responsibilities include:

- assisting
with the safety and security of prisoners, your team mates and visitors. - working
on a 24/7 rotating roster (where penalty rates apply). - being
assigned a caseload of prisoners; to assist them in achieving their
personal and professional goals. You will be required to liaise with other
areas of the department when required such as different programs to assist
in each prisoner’s individual goals. - being
involved in your assigned prisoner’s Individual Management Plans, ensuring
that the programs they are participating in are linked to their needs and
goals. - conducting
regular patrols, searches and security related activities aligned with our
policies and procedures that you will be trained in. - building
relationships with your team mates and other stakeholders, contributing
towards a positive and enjoyable working environment. - being
a key contributor to making a positive influence on the prisoners you
liaise with, and being a key contributor to assisting these individuals
reintegrate positively back into society on their release.
