UAP Group is a pan-African Financial Services Group with interests in
Insurance, Investment Management, Property Development and Investments,
Securities Brokerage and, Financial Advisory. Currently, UAP Group has twelve
(12) businesses operating in Kenya, Uganda, South Sudan, Rwanda and the
Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), and is concluding a transaction to enter
the Tanzania market.
In order to execute its ambitious growth strategy, Union Insurance Rwanda
Limited would like to recruit a dedicated team of ambitious, focused and high
performing professionals for the following key roles
RISK AND COMPLIANCE OFFICER
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the Risk & Compliance Officer
will closely work with the Company´s Senior Management Team and Group Risk
& Compliance Manager in Enterprise Risk Management, Business Continuity
Management, Compliance and Fraud management.
Principal accountabilities:
• Ensure that enterprise-wide risk management policies, controls and
procedures, are effectively implemented, disseminated and complied with across
the Company;
• Review workflows, hand-offs, process steps and existing policies and
procedures to identify areas of risks and provide recommendations for
mitigation;
• Support business units in risk assessments for new products/procedures ;
• Promote and support a culture of compliance, risk avoidance/mitigation and
corporate accountability throughout the organization through trainings and
knowledge sharing;
• Work with counterparts across all business lines to ensure policy/procedure
and control standardization and monitor compliance to the same;
• Ensuring that all the regulatory and statutory requirements are adhered to
and all payments and returns done by the prescribed due dates;
• Fraud prevention and Investigations.
Qualifications and Skills
• University Degree in Finance, Economics, Business or Actuarial Science;
• Any specific risk management or business related professional qualifications
will be an added advantage;
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Risk Management/Compliance/Forensics in a
financial institution or audit firm;
• Excellent negotiation and communication (written and oral) skills;
• Excellent IT skills including proficiency in MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint;
• Good communication and reporting writing skills;
• Excellent interpersonal skills;
• Sound analytical and numerical skills
