Quinsam Coal Corporation is seeking a highly driven individual to oversee all aspects of the environmental management at the mine and represent the company with all major stakeholders, regulators, community groups and NGO’s.
Reporting directly to the General Manager, your duties will involve:
• Identifying/managing projects to drive continuous improvement;
• Planning/monitoring environmental practices and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory agencies and permit requirements;
• Providing input and support for permit applications and amendments;
• Establishing sustainability requirements and policies;
• Participating in the annual budget preparation;
• Liaising with, and maintaining positive relationships with government and community agencies;
• Developing positive relationships with First Nations and NGO’s
• Coordinating the activities of Environmental staff and consultants;
• Representing the company on the ERTC and at local/community meetings;
• Acting as the Environmental spokesperson for the company.
Your Bachelors degree, preferably in the earth sciences field, is supplemented by sound knowledge of environmental practices, regulations and permit requirements and an awareness of local groups and politics.
Above all, you are a clear and effective communicator who is able to act as an advocate/company representative in political/public arenas, demonstrating a calm, yet firm commitment to environmental issues. The capacity to build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders will be paramount to your success. Previous mining industry experience would be considered an asset.
