Counsellors and Interviewers
Conduct
interviews with adults aged 15 and above in the households that will be
sampled, Obtain consent from adults 18-64 yrs, obtain assent from children
10-17 yrs and permission from their parents, Provide pre-test and post-test
counseling for HIV, Perform rapid HIV testing according to the national HIV
testing algorithm, perform CD4 testing using PIMA point-of-care testing
machines, Perform field based phlebotomy (whole blo

od specimens and dried blood
spots) Conduct effective participant referral and linkage to other services,
Comply with standard operating procedures and ethical guidelines, Ensure survey
participants privacy and confidentiality and adherence to universal precautions
and safety with bio-hazardous materials, Prepare and hand over samples for
further testing at a designated laboratory

Should
be at least 21 yrs old, Minimum of Diploma in Health and other relevant fields,
with an additional related professional qualification in clinical, counseling
or other medical background Must have a medical background, including good
standing with medical regulatory bodies, Must be certified to conduct HTC
Counselling, Demonstrated willingness to work on the survey for at least 3
months (6 months is strongly preferred), Experience performing field-based
phlebotomy is highly desirable, including the preparation, handling and storage
of specimens, Experience using tablets for data collection is highly desirable,
Demonstrated ability to ensure participant’s privacy and confidentiality and
adherence to universal precautions and safety with bio-hazardous materials,
Experience working on HIV/AIDS projects or research studies is highly desirable
and Must be fluent in English and in Chichewa, Chitumbuka or both
Maturity,
Good listener, Interests in HIV/AIDS research, Interest in providing HCT
counselling and services, Patient, understanding and respectful of people’s
values and attitudes
Training
for the main data collection will be conducted in May whereas data collection
is expected to start in June 2015 for a period of 5-6 months
