Nature Manitoba is people sharing a passion for nature. Since its foundation in
1920, Nature Manitoba’s mission has been to promote awareness, appreciation and
understanding of nature, and to preserve and enjoy it. In support of this
mission, Nature Manitoba offers a wide variety o
f educational programs and
publications, supports research into Manitoba’s biological and geophysical
diversity, organizes field trips and outdoor activities year-round, and
advocates for the protection of our natural environment. Nature Manitoba has an
immediate need for a Web Communications Specialist, where under the general
direction of the Communications and Promotion Committee of Nature Manitoba,
duties will include:
Content development of E-Newsletter
• Solicit articles from members and nature-related fields, and create such
articles
• Seek out relevant articles from other media sources
• Coordinate the editing of articles
Production of E-Newsletter
• Manage member and public email lists, including monthly e-newsletter and trip
list
• Prepare, edit and layout monthly e-newsletters
• Print a low quantity of member letters and prepare for mailing
Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Flickr)
• Create relevant social media content for our Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and
Flickr accounts.
• Develop and edit media lists and send out press releases when appropriate
• Execute social media campaigns when appropriate
Website
• Manage and moderate article content using Drupal CMS
• Strategize home page content and update homepage weekly/bi-weekly
• Manage trip list content/calendar
• Administer online store content on website including renewals, cabin use
fees, books, etc.
• Liaison with technical support when issues arise
Graphic Design
• On occasion, develop posters, displays, brochures, etc.
• Ensure consistent appearance of Nature Manitoba content/logo on the web and
print
Qualifications
• Experience in developing newsletters, website content, communication plan
development
• Applicants should also have demonstrated strong initiative, communication,
interpersonal and leadership skills
• Familiar with web CMS (Drupal and WordPress)
• Familiar with MailChimp and email lists
• Having a passion for the natural world
Approximately 16 hours per week, starting at $15/hour. May work remotely, but
expected to be in the office at least one day a week. Send resume and cover
