Albion Hills
Community Farm (AHCF) is a non-profit farm that advances the understanding of
local food and sustainable
agriculture practices through farming, education,
conservation and community partnerships. The farm is a place where students,
teachers, farmers, community groups and families come together to learn about
and participate in local food production in ways that serve the needs of
growing near-urban communities.
AHCF is now
accepting applications for internships at the farm from July to the end of
November. Come and immerse yourself in the world of local, sustainable
agriculture. Through farm work and discussion, interns will be exposed to
various aspects of environmentally friendly agriculture, including plant
propagation, plant care, soil preparation and health, pest-management, weed
control, cover-cropping, harvesting, planning & marketing.
As a potential
Intern, you must be willing to commit to 40 hours per week and be excited to
receive agricultural skills, knowledge, and organic veggies in exchange for
your labour, as well as a bi-weekly stipend. Camp site accommodation is
available at the adjacent Albion Hills Conservation Area. Applicants must be
under 30 years of age, must be a Canadian citizen or Permanent Resident and
must already have graduated from a university, college or CEGEP.
