Women
for Women International – Rwanda (WfWI-Rwanda) is looking for an experienced
consultant to help us map local and national partners to inform our planning,
specifically by identify potential partners for advocacy activities in 2018.
This opportunity would be ideal for someone with significant advocacy and civil
society experience in women’s rights in Rwanda. We expect that this project
will require 9 days’ work and must be completed by 31 October 2017.

Background
Since
1997, Women for Women International – Rwanda has helped nearly 75,000
marginalized women in Rwanda in six districts including Kayonza, Rwamagana,
Gasabo, Kicukiro, Muhanga, and Nyarugurru.

Women
for Women International is an International NGO working in countries affected
by conflict and war, supports the most marginalized women by giving them
support, tools and access to skills to enable them to earn and save money,
improve health and well-being, influence decisions in their home and community
and connect to networks for support. By utilizing skills, knowledge, and
resources, she can create sustainable change for herself, her family, and
community. Since 1993, we have served more the 460,000 women in eight
conflict-affected countries: Afghanistan, Bosnia and Herzegovina, DRC, Iraq,
Kosovo Nigeria, Rwanda and South Sudan.

increase their self-confidence and improve on their capacity to create
sustainable change for themselves, their families and their communities. Women
in the program learn about sustaining an income, networking, health and
wellness, women and children’s rights, business skills, numeracy and vocational
skills trainings. We provide referral services where we connect women to health
center for treatment, to police and Haguruka for legal services and connect
them to financial institutions to get loan for their businesses and markets
where they can sell their products

primary purpose of this project is to support WfWI – Rwanda to identify
potential partners for advocacy activities by mapping local and national CSOs
who are active in advocacy in areas relevant for Women for Women
International’s work and the women we serve. The mapping will also be used by
WfWI-Rwanda to inform future planning.

are looking to appoint a consultant with existing, in-depth knowledge of
Rwandan civil society actors who can build on this knowledge through
predominantly desk-based research. The first step of the project will be to
work with WfWI-Rwanda to finalize the criteria for the mapping.

final report (no more than six pages) that presents an overview of
relevant local and national advocacy actors. - This
report should also have an annex that presents the mapping in a summary

Skills
and experience:

Skills and Qualifications: Master’s degree or equivalent in social
sciences including gender or law. Formal training/ practicing advocacy
programs - A
minimum of five years’ relevant work experience in or with local/national
CSOs in Rwanda. - Advocacy
role in local/national CSO. Advocacy experience on promoting women’s
rights. Work with marginalized women. - Excellent
knowledge of local/national Rwandan women’s rights sector - Ability
to meet deadlines - Excellent
report writing including ability to synthesize large amounts of data. - Fluency
in English
