ABOUT THE ROLE

We have multiple Casual Residential Care Worker (RCW) positions available
within our Children, Youth and Family Services (CYFS) program. The program
provides residential care to children and young people who are in out of home
care with the Department of Human Services – Child Protection.

This is an opportunity to provide a high standard of physical and emotional
care and support to children and young people who, through their experience of
abuse and neglect, can no longer live with their own families. The role
requires you to interact positively with young people, utilising your strong
engagement and relationship building skills.

These positions are based in Southern and Eastern Metropolitan Melbourne as
well as Gippsland Victoria. Contract and casual roles some requiring active
night duty.

ABOUT YOU

You are proactive and experienced in engaging young people who have complex
needs and challenging behaviours. With a passion and genuine interest in the
care of young people, you ensure that their rights and interests are protected
at all times.

You have:

  The ability to handle complex situations and
crisis with a sense of calm, intelligence and common sense;
 
Confidence, resilience and patience working in challenging environments;
 
The ability to work collaboratively within a team environment as well as
independently and with the young person’s family;
  Relevant tertiary qualifications in the
Community Service or Youth Work field (i.e. Certificate IV in Youth Work,
Welfare or Community Services).

You have experience in:

  Children and Youth Residential services and
crisis management support
  Understanding the issues faced by children
and young people in out of home care.

WMV is dedicated to upholding the highest standards of Child Safety. Successful
candidates will be required to obtain a Working with Children Check prior to
commencement of work. We will arrange a National Police Check as part of our
recruitment process, which will be renewed every three years by WMV. It is also
a requirement that all applicants are checked against the DHS Carers Register.
Information regarding this scheme will be provided at interview.
