1. Background and
Purpose
Purpose
At
the end of November 2015, on the occasion of the national statistics day and
the African Statistics Day, UNICEF Rwanda and the National Institute of
Statistics of Rwanda (NISR) organized a strategic side-event: Reading Data with
Children: ‘Our story – past, present and future of our country, our continent
and our globe’. With children’s participation (children with disability
included), the event attempted to bridge rights-based- and evidence-based discussion
by using the statistics as a tool at the forum of this anniversary event.

specific objectives of designing the guide are as follows:

bring opportunities for school children to get familiar with and discuss
the country’s latest socio-economic indicators from child rights
perspective in selected schools in cooperation with NISR and REB; - To
support teachers from selected schools in facilitating evidence-based
discussion and promoting statistical literacy education among school
children by using the latest socio-economic indicators produced by NISR.

material produced under this assignment will be the property of UNICEF and
NISR and any use of it other than for the purpose of the assignment will
only be determined and decided by UNICEF and NISR. - UNICEF
reserves the right to withhold all or a portion of payment if performance
is unsatisfactory, if work/outputs is incomplete, not delivered or for
failure to meet deadlines - On-field
(in-country) transport will be arranged by UNICEF and Consultant will
complete Waiver for Non-Staff issued with travel authorization in
accordance with UNICEF Financial and Administrative Policy 5, Supplement 4
(B.2): - Consultant
must complete basic security and advanced security in the field prior to
travel. - The
candidate selected will be governed by and subject to UNICEF general terms
and conditions for individual contracts. - The
consultant will use private computer for the consultancy period. - The
consultant will be paid by UNICEF on monthly basis based on the submission
report on the deliverables - Non-UNICEF
staff (including individual consultants) issued with UNICEF Travel
Authorization are not covered by the insurance which automatically applies
to UNICEF staff, and are fully responsible for arranging their own
insurance cover. - Consultant
need to provide lump sum total fee that includes consultancy fee and taxes
to be paid to RRA by the consultant. Qualification and lower fee requested
will be a basis for selection
