Background,
The
world is increasingly adopting digital technologies to handle their business
processes. In the development sector, digital trends manifest among others in
the usage of smart phones to collect and analyses data for programmatic
decision making. Using mobile phones to collect data is not only cheaper but
also more reliable and less prone to human errors associated with traditional
pen and paper methods.  In Rwanda and neighboring countries, mobile data
collection is beginning to take shape but there is a need to develop a critical
mass of professionals who can not only administer a mobile based survey but also
design it.
Why
this course
Collecting
data in timely, accurate, comprehensive manner can be difficult using
traditional pen and paper. For organizations involved in emergency programmes,
it’s absolutely important to have verifiable and reliable data. Yet this can be
difficult to achieve using traditional means. With mobile technologies, more
can be done with less investment thereby ensuring that decision makers have
timely disaggregated data as and when they need it.
