investors support Imbarutso’s portfolio of interventions in the tea industry in
Rwanda which aim to make it more competi
tive through activities which will
increase management and agronomic skills at the farm level, support the
government regulatory environment and assist processors. Its primary goal is
to boost factory profitability and farmer incomes.
In
addition to its majority shares in Mulindi and Shagasha tea factories in Rwanda
held through East Africa Tea Investments (EATI) a subsidiary of TWFA/GCF,
Imbarutso has embarked on developing two smallholder tea greenfields in
Nyaruguru and Karongi. The training opportunity is in relation to building
Rwandan capacity in the tea sector. Best performers could be offered a
permanent position within one of the four Imbarut sobusinesses.

partnership with NAEB, TWFAseeks to identifyand fund 15 Rwandan candidatesto
undergo a rigorous Farmer Field School (FFS) training programme to be
undertaken in Kenya and Rwanda.Trainees will be placed at the
Imbarutsoprogramme sites in Rwanda and will be required to complete an FFS
cycle of 12 months which will include a 2-3 week training in Kenya with ongoing
backstopping support from expert trainers.Upon completion of the FFS programme,
successful trainees will be awarded a “Farmer Field School Facilitator”
certificate specialised in the smallholder tea value chain and will have
knowledge in:

The
ideal candidateswe seek for this opportunity will have:

- Successfully
completed an undergraduate degree (Bachelors) in Agriculture and related
fields such as Agricultural Economics, Agribusiness, Rural Development and
Environmental Studies - Written
and spoken proficiency in English and Kinyarwanda with knowledge of
Kiswahili being a definite advantage - Demonstrated
interest in improving smallholder farmer incomes, rural economic
development - Previous
experience in the tea value chain or agricultural extension services with
a focus on smallholder farmers and perennial crops
