mission of the United States Studies Centre at the University of Sydney is to
increase understanding of the United States in Australia and around the
world.  

Spanning
the study of politics and policy, economics and business, culture and society,
the core activities of the centre include undergraduate teaching and
postgraduate degrees, academic research, student study abroad programs, thought
leadership projects, policy analysis and commentary, business leadership forums
and community outreach.

Looking
ahead, the centre will be devoting greater resources to expanding its presence
and profile in the in the United States and the Asia Pacific region. 

Reporting
to the Director of Operations and Academic Director the Manager of the Student
Mobility team will play a key role by supporting the growth of the centre’s
study abroad and internship programs in alignment with the strategic direction
of the centre and its role within the University.

Key
responsibilities include:

  • develop
    and implement study abroad and internship program strategies and a
    corresponding operational plan, in consultation with the Director of
    Operations and the Academic Director
  • project
    manage the development and delivery of study abroad and internship
    programs from conception to execution. This includes promotion,
    recruitment, admissions, pre-departure and post-departure activities
  • conceptualise
    and develop marketing campaigns to support Centre initiatives and
    strategic objectives, including study abroad and internships
  • manage
    all study abroad related events (including recruitment events, program
    launch and scholarships ceremonies, guest lecturers, alumni events,
    student roundtables etc)
  • manage
    and create new relationships with key stakeholders, including (but not
    limited to) the University of Sydney, the Perth USAsia Centre and the
    University of Western Australia, other institutional partners, intern host
    organisations (domestic and international), recruitment agents, high
    schools etc.
 

To be
successful in this role you will need to demonstrate:

  • minimum
    three years relevant experience in the development and implementation of
    student study abroad programs and internships
  • strong
    strategic and operational experience in student study abroad recruitment,
    marketing and communications
  • well-developed
    project management skills with the capacity to manage competing
    priorities, maintain attention to detail, meet deadlines and work within
    budget
  • experience
    in developing and executing marketing communications campaigns and
    collateral across a broad range of media channels and mediums
  • demonstrated
    ability to build strong relationships with key internal and external
    stakeholders
  • Tertiary
    degree qualification in communications, marketing, publishing or other
    relevant discipline
