services t
o the University. The group is providing transformational change,
defining and influencing future service enhancements within the University of
Melbourne. The Specialist Lawyer – Trusts is a member of the Legal and Risk
Team which sits within the University Services portfolio.
About the role
Reporting to both the Associate
Director, Legal Services and also to the General Counsel & Executive
Director- Legal and Risk, you will undertake high-quality legal work with a
focus on the University’s Trusts practice. This will include reviewing and
drafting agreements, memoranda of gifts and other documentation required to
establish and vary university trusts, facilitating the resolution of conflicts
and disputes, assessing legal risk and providing independent advice to
university decision makers.
The ideal candidate will have a
depth of experience in wills and estates and charitable trusts in Victoria.
This role will develop and
maintain effective working relationships with Academic Divisions, Chancellery
and University Services to ensure high quality and timely service delivery. You
will work as part of a small, dedicated and focused team that provides timely,
clear, concise and accurate legal advice to the University.

relationships.
About you
– Tertiary qualifications in
relevant discipline(Law) (LLB)
– Legal Practicing Certificate
– Experience and expertise in
provision of legal services across large and complex organisation.
– Postgraduate qualifications and
extensive relevant experience or equivalent combination of relevant experience
and/or education and training.
– Demonstrated ability to support
in the resolution of routine legal matters
– Breath of knowledge of legal
concepts and their application within the University with particular expertise
in area of technical specialisation
– Ability to work with and manage
ambiguity
– Proven ability to thrive in a
changing and fast paced environment
