SENIOR AGRICULTURAL EXPERTS, LIBERIA
Tetra Tech ARD (http://www.ardinc.com) requests expressions of interest from senior agricultural experts for a SIDA-funded project in West Africa. The program will work with a pro-poor growth approach and its preliminary objectives will be to substantially increased income and employment opportunities for a large number of poor women, men and youth, created through market and value chain development in agriculture.
The expected outputs are systemic change in market systems relevant for the smallholder farmers and related micro and small enterprises in terms of: improved market functions, improved performance of support services and improved business environment. The program is intended to be based on the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach and will start towards the end of 2011 or beginning of 2012.
Qualifications:
Interested candidates should have:
• Experience in working with agricultural value chains, preferably including experience with cocoa, palm oil, rubber, cassava and vegetables;
• Significant experience in Sub-Saharan Africa, preferably West Africa and Liberia;
• A masters or higher in Agricultural Economics, or a related field;
• Knowledge of the Making Markets Work for the Poor (M4P) approach and experience from working with the approach in projects/programs;
• Experience in working with various type of producer organizations, farmer groups and similar
• Experience from post-conflict settings is an advantage;
• Fluency in English required; knowledge of French (?) and local languages highly desirable;
• Prior experience in working on SIDA funded projects is desirable
