Wildlife Research Institute (TAWIRI) is a Parastatal Organization under the
Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism. TAWIRI has the mandate to conduct,
supervise and coordinate wildlife research in the United Republic of Tanzania.
The Institute has its Headquarters in Arusha and five Research Centers namely,
Njiro Wildlife Research Centre (NWRC) in Arusha, Kingupira Wildlife Research
Centre (KWRC) in Selous Game Reserve, Serengeti Wildlife Research Centre (SWRC)
in the Serengeti National Park, Mahale Wildlife Research Centre (MWRC) in
Mahale and Gombe Wildlife Research Centre (GWRC) in Go
mbe National Park
respectively in Kigoma Region. TAWIRI invites applications from qualified
Tanzanian citizens to fill in vacant positions as follows:
Research Officer II (5 Positions)
Qualification and Experience
- Fresh
holders of a Master’s degree in Natural resources, wildlife,
environmental, veterinary or Statistics who attained a minimum of an upper
second-class degree at undergraduate level. - Work
stations and bias will be as provided below: - Headquarters
–one post, must be biased in Statistics is an added advantage - Serengeti
Wildlife Research Centre one post - Mahale
Wildlife Research Centre one post must be biased in Animal Ecology/ Animal
Behavior & Evolution/ Molecular Biology. - Kihansi
Wildlife Research Station one post, biased in Herpetology (Amphibian
Ecology) will be an added advantage. - Gombe
Wildlife Research Centre one post must be biased in Plant Ecology/ Land
Use & Change/ Animal Nutrition. - Age
should not be more than 40 years old.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
- Assist
Senior Research Officer on collection, processing and analysing data
related to wildlife management. - Under
the supervision of a Senior Research Officer will collaborate with and
interact with research scientists in the dissemination and application of
research findings as appropriate. - Work
on more specific projects on the area of wildlife management research - Perform
any other duties assigned by supervisor(s).
Salary Scale: PRSS 2.
