For the support of its new project which focuses on the physical rehabilitation of swamps’ irrigation systems in Lofa and Nimba Counties, SDC offers the following position:
JOB DESCRIPTION:
• Manage and lead the Construction Unit of the project;
• Conduct feasibility studies for the rehabilitation of irrigation schemes and other related construction activities (weirs and dams, small bridges, road improvements, fish ponds, domestic water supply);
• Prepare designs and lay-outs, statically and hydraulic calculations as well as cost estimates for above activities;
• Prepare bills of quantities for the tendering of work components to local contractors, evaluate submitted offers of contractors;
• Elaborate standard designs and costs per unit based on best practices;
• Establish contacts and coordinate with line agencies and beneficiaries;
• Prepare and conduct various trainings and contribute to capacity building;
• Provide technical support to partner organizations
• Control regularly overall work progress and assure cost controls
Specific Qualifications:
• Master or Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or equivalent background;
• Minimal 5 years of work experience in rural construction works and hydraulic engineering with practical knowhow in construction;
• Very good capacities in designing and conducting trainings for technical staff of partner agencies, qualified construction workers and farmers
General qualifications for all job offers:

• Good writing and communications skills in English;
• Good computer skills: Non-Liberian must have the required work and/or residency permits
