It is practically impossible to reach effective parenting without wisdom. Wisdom is knowing when and where to use knowledge. My philosophy of Value Improvement holds that in leading an Effective life we can’t grow job skills without growing life skills. Parenting is a life skill that supports job skill. Effective Parenting is the capacity and commitment of capability to raise children and still reach the fullness of one’s personal purpose.

1. Parents Are NOT OWNERS But STEWARDS
Parenting is a responsibility that understands that parents are STEWARDS not owners. Children are the heritage of the Lord. Parents are Managers. Children come from God through parents hence we are only vessels not owners. We are under an obligatory responsibility that is accountable to God from whom they came or of whom we have received them as gift to cultivate for his glory.
2. Parenting Is SACRIFICIAL
Raising children is a tough commitment! We virtually live for our children but with an effective approach we live beyond them. If our parenting is without understanding (defective) we will feel offended and possessive over the life of our children. We will want them to do our bidding rather leading them to do the will of God by modeling a lifestyle that they can follow. Parents almost nearly live their life for their children but effective parenting wisdom helps us to invest in them rather than turning them into our property. No matter how much h we sacrifice for them, we will have to release them some day to further their life assignments but then our commitment to their training is the best we can offer them. We must be willing to release them into the world to live out how we have trained them. We should be able to celebrate the investment we have made, pray for them and continue to live out our own life mission.
3. Parenting Is A Visionary Discipline.
A good man leaves an inheritance for his children. Discipline is a learnt culture! Parents provide a place of love where children feel secure, sane and sound. Parents are to create laws and a culture that will make them wise and mannered. Parents are to be the light that lightens children’s path. Provide formal and informal education that will help them make independent decisions that make them persons of worth, relevance and amazing significance yet rightly focused. Parents are to model a way to live by their values, ideals, standards and lifestyle. Until your children regard you as their model, your parenting is not yet effective.
