Scores of Boko Haram fighters killed by Nigerien troops

According to the Nigerien Defense Ministry, about 280 Boko Haram Terrorist Group fighters had been killed by the Nigerien troops and air strikes in an operation launched last week by the Nigerien Government.

These attacks by the Nigerien military is geared towards getting rid of Boko Haram Terrorist Group which had been launching attacks at Niger, Chad, Cameroun and Nigeria in an attempt to establish an Islamic Caliphate in the area.

The sweep operation as it was called by the Nigerien Defense Ministry took place at the South-eastern Komadugu River which separates Nigeria from Niger.

The operation as reported by the Defense Ministry lead to the neutralising of Boko Haram Terrorist Group fighters while about 87 of the fighter were killed by air strikes.

This operation became eminent due to the increase activity of the Boko Haram Terrorist Group in the area which had led to the death of several people (both military and civilians) in Chad, Niger, Cameroun and Nigeria.
