Rwanda with a current staff complement of approximately 94 staff. SC is
implementing an emergency response programme to support the Burundi refugees in
Mahama Refugee Camp.

PURPOSE
OF POSITION:
The
Nurse Assistant will work to contribute to an improvement in the overall health
of the targeted refugee population of Mahama Camp through the provision of
quality primary health care. (Curative OPD, Promotive and Preventive Health
Care)
KEY
AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
  • In
    collaboration with Nurses, assist in management of OPD / In-patient Care
    as per MOH/WHO guidelines.
  • In
    consultation with the nurses & doctors participate in reviewing all
    patients  requiring referral to secondary level Health facilities for
    further management
  • Undertake
    minor surgical procedures like I&D, Suturing of deep wounds etc
  • To
    conduct Nursing care of patients as per Doctors guidelines &
    Instructions
  • Ensure
    compliance to MoH/WHO guidelines of rational drug use
  • In
    collaboration with  the consulting staff ( MD,s Midwife &
    Fellow  Nurses) provide treatment as per MOH/WHO treatment guidelines
    and protocols
  • Work
    with other Medical Team PHC Nurse to operationalize emergency preparedness
    to be able to responding to any potential outbreaks
  • In
    additional to the above listed responsibilities the Nurse Assistant will
    also be responsible for any other duty deemed necessary by the Line
    Manager.

QUALIFICATIONS
AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
  1. A
    qualified Certificate  Nurse  with clinical  experience,
    registered / licensed by medical practitioners board
  2. Experience
    in working in PHCU’s and health center/hospital setting.
  3. Experience
    working with international NGO.
  4. 4.      Excellent
    liaison abilities and good communication skills (French, Kiswahili and
    English preferred).
  5. 5.      Willingness
    to work in resource poor environment and be culturally sensitive.
  6. Ability
    to work in a remote area and in context of insecurity issues.
  7. Experience
    managing  Referral of patients  from Primary Health Care centres
    to secondary level facilities
Desirable
  • Language
    skills in Kinyarwanda,  French and Swahili
  • An
    area of particular expertise within humanitarian health
  • Experience
    of working on HIV programmes
  • Specific
    experience of working in consortia projects.
