The Ministry of Sports announced Friday that non-contact sports will resume activities starting on Monday, June 8, in compliance with the health guidelines.
All sporting activities – events, leagues, and competitions – in the country have been on hold since March 15, as the government is applying strict measures to prevent the Covid-19 pandemic from spreading.

Cycling, one of Rwanda’s most popular sports, is one of the outdoor non-contact sports that are allowed to resume.

The @Rwanda_Sports informs the general public that CYCLING among the mentioned sports will resume starting Monday June 8th 2020.

Others cleared sports include; jogging, athletics, individual physical fitness, outdoor exercises, hiking, cycling, golf, tennis, fencing, motor sports and badminton.
According to the ministry statement, athletes must wear face-masks before and after their workout sessions, and should always bring hand sanitizers and use them whenever needed. In addition, they should observe social distances of at least 1.5 metres.
Meanwhile, the compound and running track of the Amahoro National Stadium will also be open for the aforementioned sporting activities.
The Sports Ministry says the new initiatives will be re-examined after 15 days following a safety review, in cooperation with the Ministry of Health.
Individuals with Covid-19 red flag symptoms such as flu, cold, fever , cough, sneezing and headache are encouraged not to participate in the public exercises
