ANNOUNCEMENT-FAIR TRADE BUSINESS PROJECT MANAGER

FORUM FOR ALTERNATIVE TRADE, in

short “RWAFAT” is looking for a proactive,
self-starter with experience of coaching and advising small businesses or
co-operatives to improve their performance.

The
fair trade business manager will lead the organization’s support for its
membership, working to identify development needs and support the growth of
RWAFAT members. He/she will be responsible for growing the reputation of RWAFAT
as a membership support organization and communicating with the member
businesses on a regular basis. He/she will also be proactive in networking with
new and existing partners, to identify, promote and support innovative
approaches to meeting the challenges of handcraft producers.
“RWAFAT”
is a Rwandan non-profit making organization. The memberships are opened to all
producer groups registered in any form but committed to the promotion of the
fair trade Principles. Its community development is implemented in four
provinces of Rwanda but the majority of members are located in the Northern
Province.
Under
the authority of its Legal Representative with funding from SHARED INTEREST, a
UK based Organization,
RWAFAT
wishes to recruit a Fair Trade Business Manager for the following
qualifications tasks during 12 months.
Minimum
Qualification & Experience
  1. A
    bachelor’s degree in business administration, co-operative development, marketing,
    agriculture or other related field
  2. At
    least 3 years in business advisory or business training experience
    preferably with a development organization
  3. Knowledge
    of methods foradvising and coaching small business or co-operatives
  4. Demonstrated
    experience of working in the handcraft sector
  5. Experience
    and knowledge of project planning, monitoring and evaluation
  6. Experience
    of keeping accurate records and finances relating to field visits
  7. Excellent
    oral and written communication skills (English, French,) with ability in
    ICT and accounting knowledge
Personal
 
  1. Ability
    to think strategically yet implement at a tactical level
  2. Willing
    to travel for working duty, regularly within Rwanda and in the Region
  3. Ability
    to organize own schedule and plan regular field visits as appropriate
  4. Proven
    leadership abilities with excellent organizational and management skills
  5. High
    degree of self-motivation and passion to succeed
  6. Interest
    in fair trade principles
  7. Demonstrated
    skills in networking with other development partners in the field
  8. Strong
    empathy for and ability to work with poor communities
  9. Must
    have an ability to reach targets within timeline
