Position
Summary
- Plan,
prepare and deliver quality and effective literacy programs, which are in
tune with the College pedagogy, to produce improvements in student
literacy outcome - Mentor
and support staff to improve the delivery of literacy strategies in their
classrooms - Communicate
effectively with staff and Heads of College - Meet
the diverse needs and learning styles of students
Responsibilities
- Identifying
the needs of classroom teachers and students through the use of data - Helping
teachers to interpret, discuss and choose strategies to meet student needs
- Modelling
lessons, observing classroom instruction and coaching teachers - Leading
professional learning communities in Year level groupings - Targeting
relevant professional development for staff - Maintaining
and improving literacy resources - Tracking
progress of literacy reforms, providing teachers with current research
& assessment data to inform teaching - Improving
oral language outcomes Maintaining resources, equipment and the
physical environment to the highest standards and placing student safety
as paramount in day to day operation - Complying with
school procedures, policies and practices, including WHS
Selection
criteria
- Demonstrated
empathy with Christian faith and ideals, with a proven reputation for
integrity - Demonstrated
experience as a Literacy Coach, including analysing and interpreting data - Knowledge
and proven ability to be a model practitioner, using high yield strategies
to improve student outcomes - Demonstrated
ability to communicate effectively to families, students and colleagues
including the use of appropriate interpersonal skills - Basic
understanding of workplace health and safety, equal employment opportunity
and anti-discriminatory practices and behaviour as applies in an
Independent Christian school workplace environment
