WC) is
a charitable organisation with a mandate to serve South Asian and Chinese
speaking immigrant women and their families by providing culturally appropriate
and linguistically specific settlement support and counselling services with
the use of community determined strategies, developed and delivered by
immigrant women. RIWC is seeking a Receptionist/Administrator for a 8 week
summer job position under the Canada Summer Job
grant to provide
Front Desk and Administration support.

Criteria:
  • is
    between 15 and 30 years of age
  • was
    registered as full time student during preceding academic year
  • Intends
    to return to school on a full time basis during the next academic year
  • is
    a student in a secondary, post-secondary, vocational or technical program
  • Is
    a Canadian Citizen, permanent resident or person on whom refugee
    protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection
    Act and
  • Is
    legally entitled to work in Ontario
Reports to:
Executive Director
Responsibilities:
  • Greeting
    visitors and clients in a friendly manner
  • Answering
    calls and referring to appropriate staff
  • Recording
    and relaying messages to staff in a timely manner
  • Managing
    sign-in logs and other administrative files
  • Keeping
    reception area clean, organized and presentable
  • Replying
    to reception e-mails; collecting and distributing faxes
  • Assisting
    with filing, faxing, photocopying.
  • Assisting
    with the social enterprises including the Social Gardener Café housed
    within the Riverale Hub.
  • Respect
    confidentiality of service users, staff and others who come to Riverdale
    Immigrant Women’s Centre.
  • Assisting
    in making and keeping track of schedules
  • Receiving
    mail/packages and arranging courier services as needed
  • Other
    tasks as assigned
Qualifications:
  • Currently
    enrolled in a post-secondary program and completing a degree in
    Administration, Reception or related discipline.
  • Proficiency
    in MS Office, internet, and email is essential
  • Ability
    to interact positively with unique individuals of all ages, genders,
    religions, cultures, ethnicities, attitudes, beliefs and other
    characteristics without discrimination
  • Excellent
    communication and organizational skills
  • Barista
    experience
  • Familiarity
    with Social Media
  • Knowledge
    of Microsoft Office
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability
    to multi-task
  • Knowledge
    of a South or East Asian language is an asset
