Rancho Delicioso is an eco-village and organic farm located in the
southern Nicoya Peninsula of Costa Rica. It is owned in part by
Anamaya Yoga Resort and was started for the purpose of growing and
providing local, fresh, and organic produce for the retreat guests.
Some other long-term goals and pro
jects for the farm include becoming
a research center for local organic farming efforts; publishing online
information about organic growing techniques; establishing an onsite
Permaculture learning center; researching green building techniques
using local materials and providing information to the public about
sustainable and affordable building techniques; recycling and
up-cycling art, construction techniques, and research using materials
provided by the area’s recycling center next door; holding periodic
farm-to-table dinners using our own produce; building community
gardens at various places around the local area; providing an
educational resource for the local school.
We are currently looking for hard-working, enthusiastic volunteers who
would like to participate.
Typical Volunteer work:
• Manual labor: Weeding, planting, digging, etc… general farm stuff
that’s needed every day as you probably would expect on the farm.
• Animal Care: Milk the goats, store and process the goat milk.
Collect chicken eggs. Clean the chicken coop. Collect fodder for the
goats.
• Maintenance of Volunteer Space: Sweep, clean, etc. Keep the living
areas neat and tidy!
• Cooking/Food research: Volunteers share cooking responsibilities and
additionally We are constantly looking for new recipes utilizing the
produce grown on the farm.
• Internet Research: We need help researching ways to get things to
grow better in the tropics.
• Article Writing: We need you to document what we’re doing here,
especially detailed articles with photos, to be published online.
Internet Promotion: We need help promoting Rancho Delicioso online.
• Community involvement: previous volunteers started working with the
local school, teaching yoga to the children, giving talks on
nutrition, helping them setup their own garden at the school; help
keep this project going!
• Farmers market: tend our booth at the Saturday Farmers Market in
Montezuma. We have a number of tried and true recipes that we’ve
created for selling at the farmers market, or create your own.
