Eligibility:
To
be eligible for this scholarship, you must be admitted to the University
of Iowa and have:
-a 3.80 cumulative high school grade-point average (on a 4.00 scale);
and
– an ACT composite score of 30 (or a combined SAT critical reading and math
score of 1330) or higher.
-If you plan to take the ACT or SAT during fall 2012, we strongly advise you to
select from the September, October, or November test dates. December ACT or SAT
results may not be available in time for this scholarship competition.
-Official test scores—from the testing agency—and official high school transcripts
are required.

Description: 
Since
1980, the University of Iowa’s Presidential Scholarship Program
has recognized outstanding high school seniors with scholarship
awards. The Presidential Scholarship is awarded on the basis of
exceptional academic ability; integrity in scholarship, service, and
leadership; intellectual curiosity; commitment to community; and
respect for difference. The award is given with the expectation
that these exceptional scholars will make significant and lasting
contributions to the University of Iowa community.

Tenure of award: It is applicable for up to 4 years.

Value:
The
Presidential Scholarship is the university’s highest scholastic
award for entering first-year students. The total value of this
scholarship is $40,000 ($10,000 a year for up to four years).
Selection criteria: A Presidential Scholarship selection committee
composed of faculty and staff members selects the
scholarship recipients. Selection criteria for the award include
exceptional academic ability; integrity in scholarship, service,
and leadership; intellectual curiosity; commitment to community;
and respect for difference.
Notification: Presidential Scholars
will be announced by March 8, 2013.
Scholarship Application Deadline: Do submit your applications till
7 December 2012.
