Precautionary measures during application of pesticides

Olufemi
(2009) stated that the precautionary measures that need to be taken when
applying pesticides are as follows:
a.    
When applying pesticides, wear appropriate clothing and overall with
long sleeves, nose masks, rubber boots, hand gloves, goggles, respirators and
helmet.
b.    
Make sure equipments are calibrated correctly in order to maintain
accurate results

c.    
Keep pesticides away from mouth, eyes and noise. Avoid sprays or dust
sprayers. Nozzles should not be blown by mouth if they get blocked while
spraying.
d.    
Never eat, drink or smoke while spraying insecticides.
e.    
Do not contaminate livestock, food, feed or water supply.
f.       
Minimize drift by applying only on a calm day. Do not spray while
working of wind. Do not walk through the cloud or drift of unsettled dust or
spray.
g.    
Avoid damage to beneficial and pollinating insects by not spraying
during period when such insect are actively working in a spray area.
