seeks entrepreneurial, dynamic candidates with significant technical expertise
in social and behavior change communications, specifically applicable in the
HIV prevention field for the position of Behavior Change Communications
Technical Advisor for a USAID targeted HIV prevention/condom social
marketing/TMA for condoms project in Malawi. This position will be based in
Lilongwe reporting to the Chief of Party.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Provide
strategic, technical guidance and direction to the Project in
collaboration with the Chief of Party ensuring alignment with latest
technical information and approaches in the SBCC field. - Design
high quality project interventions and assessments in collaboration with
relevant stakeholders. - Travel
to project districts to provide on-site technical assistance to the design
and implementation of project activities, including with local, national,
international partners. - Build
local capacity of selected entities (government and/or civil society) in
design, implementation and evaluation of SBCC programming. - Support
Chief of Party in reporting to donor and representation of the project
externally at events, conferences and meetings.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- A
Masters degree in social communications, marketing, public health or a
related field - At
least 5 years of demonstrated experience in designing and implementing
communication or marketing activities, with some of this experience in
Malawi preferable - At
least 5 years working in the field of international health - Proven
expertise in implementing effective priority populations health
communication or marketing activities - Demonstrated
success in achieving behavior change results through well-conceptualized,
planned and implemented behavior change communication and community
mobilization programs - Demonstrated
management, coordination, teamwork and planning skills - Knowledge
and implementation of behavior change theory - Experience
in user centered design and/or other innovative ways to gain consumer
insight approaches is highly desirable - A
proven ability to function effectively with multiple host-country
counterparts in both the public and NGO sectors - Experience
building capacity of civil society and/or government entities in social
and behavior change communications. - Creativity
and entrepreneurial outlook. - Excellent
English oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of Chichewa desirable. - This
position is contingent on funding.
