Research Co., LLC (URC)
Established in 1965, URC offers a
range of technical assistance to strengthen health and social systems and
service quality by empowering communities and health workers to identify and
scale up locally appropriate solutions to critical problems. URC focuses on
finding ways to deliver proven approaches to health care problems, applying
quality improvement (QI) methods and conducting

operations research to tailor
those approaches to various settings. Recognizing implementation barriers
unique to each setting, we train local managers and service providers to
strengthen health systems, integrate system elements, and bring improvements to
scale.

Roles
and Responsibilities

URC is recruiting for a Health Systems Strengthening (HSS) for a potential
integrated health project in Malawi. The HSS director must provide strategic
leadership and oversight to the health systems components of the program.
Requisite qualifications include an appropriate balance of technical,
managerial and interpersonal skills and experience. S/he must have a deep
understanding of activity goals and objectives and be able to articulate the
strategic vision of the program. Experience in interacting with host country
agencies, including central and local government, development partners, civil
society and community-based organizations is essential. Specifically the HSS
director must have: Minimum Qualifications
  • A
    Master’s Degree or higher in Public Health, Social Sciences, or equivalent
    field;
  • Minimum
    8 years of progressively increasing responsibility working in public
    health;
  • Specialization
    in one of the six health systems building blocks and demonstrated
    experience in the others;
  • Demonstrated
    leadership skills in working collaboratively with other donors, host
    country institutions, and international organizations;
  • Excellent
    organizational, analytical, and oral and written communication skills;
  • Relevant
    field experience in Malawi or similar settings with significant management
    responsibility, including relevant supervisory experience of professional
    staff;
  • Malawian
    nationals encouraged to apply.
