Position Overview

The Pembina Institute is seeking a motivated, creative and strategic digital
content specialist to join our organizational communications team on an initial
six-month contract with the possibility of extension. The successful candidate
will be responsible for helping to maintain and publish content on Pembina’s
website and social media channels, lead the promotion of Pembina’s work to our
email subscribers and provide communications support to our regional teams.

This role is ideal for a “doer” who enjoys digital communications and social
media, who understands Pembina’s voice and niche in the environment and energy
space, and who likes to collaborate with others while also working in a
self-directed manner. Strong writing skills are essential, along with
experience in digital publishing/website content development, blogging and
online engagement. The ideal candidate will be familiar with energy and
environmental policy issues as well as the relevant political context in
Alberta, B.C., Ontario and federally. A strong interest in our organizational
priorities is a must.

The salary rate for this position is competitive for a junior communications
professional in the non-profit sector and will be based on the skills,
experience and qualifications of the successful candidate. The location for
this position is flexible, with some preference for working out of our Calgary,
Edmonton or Toronto offices. Further terms of employment will be discussed

Roles and Responsibilities

In this role, you’ll be responsible for promoting Pembina’s work across
multiple digital platforms and helping staff engage effectively with Pembina’s
core audiences, which include government and business decision makers, policy
influencers and journalists.

This role is designed to support other members of Pembina’s communications team
with the digital engagement aspects of executing strategic communications. The
role will involve working across all of our regions and priority issues, and
supporting organizational efforts such as fund development, strategic planning,
conveying and strengthening Pembina’s brand, and subscriber engagement.

Skills and Qualifications

Candidates must clearly reflect the following skills and experience in their
application:
• Post-secondary education in communications, marketing, digital engagement or
a related field
• Proven skills and experience in web content development, digital engagement,
popular communications, online publishing and multimedia storytelling
• Attention to detail and a commitment to personal excellence
• A superb command of the English language (reading, writing and speaking)
• Compelling writing and the ability to tailor both tone and style for various
audiences
• Demonstrated familiarity with various social media tools, platforms and
engagement strategies
• Experience using social media to build community and/or advocacy campaigns
• Familiarity with basic HTML editing, blogging and online publishing using
Drupal or similar content management software
• Familiarity with Salesforce or similar CRM software
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and Adobe Creative Suite
• Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to exercise tact,
discretion and sound judgment at all times
• Ability to evaluate digital engagement projects and social media impact based
on desired outcomes and develop strategies for improving results in the future
