Palladium seeks a
Nutrition Officer for the five-year USAID-funded Malawi Ag Diversification
activity. The Activity contributes to USAID/Malawi’s Feed the Future goal of
sustainably reducing poverty and stunting in eight districts of Central and
Southern Malawi. S/he will report directly to the District Coordinator and will
be responsible for implementing interventions in nutrition and behavior change
at the field-level.

  • Implements
    nutrition interventions to increase consumption of diverse and nutritious
    foods in the targeted districts (including expansion of home gardens,
    improved household and community-based processing and storage of nutritious
    foods)
  • Delivers
    training and demonstrations on nutrition to women, caregivers of young
    children and partner and community-based organizations.
  • Participates
    in community-based initiatives to raise demand and consumption for highly
    nutritious foods (e.g. Orange Fleshed Sweet Potato, soy products, safe
    groundnuts, other legumes, horticulture and vegetables).
  • Provides
    support to the Outcome 3 Lead (Nutrition) and the Technical Nutrition
    Specialist as needed
  • Liaises
    with community stakeholders including Care Groups, VSLAs, father’s groups,
    community leaders and additional community organizations to promote
    savings of nutritious foods for local consumption to enhance dietary
    diversity (especially among women of reproductive age and children under
    5).Special emphasis will also be given to promote dietary diversity and
    essential nutrition actions during the first 1000 days (conception to 24
    months).
  • Contributes
    to district-level M&E, collaborating with M&E Assistants on key
    nutrition performance indicators.
  • Links
    with other program components to enhance access and availability of
    locally produced and processed nutritious foods.

Assists
with additional assignments in accordance with the needs of the program
·        
Bachelor’s
degree in Nutrition, Health, Agriculture or related field.
·        
3
or more years of experience implementing nutrition programs and training
·        
Prior
experience working on donor-funded programs preferred
  • Working
    knowledge of monitoring and evaluation at the field-level
  • Professional
    proficiency in English required
