Job Title: General Counsel
Job Location: Abuja
Responsibilities
The General Counsel serves as in-house counsel on contracts including development of contract language, negotiations with counterparties and resolution of disputes; manages litigation and arbitration proceedings; leads regulatory and legislatory initiatives; and advises the Executive Officer and Board on all Legal and regulatory issues that arise. The General Counsel reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications/Experience Required
o Law Degree, 10 years post Call and an admission to the Nigerian Bar
o Minimum ten (10) years of progressive experience
o Ability to organise and apply legal concepts and principles
o Demonstrated experience in negotiations of long tenured contract
o Ability to interpret, analyse and prepare contract documents
Desired
o Five (5) years of related progressive legal/regulatory experience preferably in corporate law
o Experience in regulatory and legislative matters in the power and gas industries
o Knowledge of Nigeria or similar power and natural gas markets and the roles and responsibilities of the various industry players Experience working with power infrastructural or related contracts.
