MAINTENANCE
ENGINEER MECHANICAL – UNDERGROUND
JOB PURPOSE
To lead and manage the maintenance of coal mining and support equipment to the
company asset management strategy and fiery mining legal requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor
of Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Degree
from a recognized University. - Registration
with Botswana Engineers’ Registration Board a pre-requisite. - 8 years
post qualification Experience in heavy mining engineering industry
including EIT programme with 6 years at substantive mining industry
Engineer level. - Strong
Knowledge and application of ISO 55001:2014, ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001
standards management systems. - Good
knowledge and application of the 20 Keys management operating system will
be an added advantage
Key
Activities
- Develops,
coaches and mentors subordinates to ensure effective succession plans and
maintenance quality in the section. - Analyses
the section’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensure sufficient
financial resources to meet business needs. - Translates
the engineering strategy into medium/long term strategic leverage areas or
interventions for development of maintenance systems to support the
operations in meeting the business objectives and targets - Develops,
reviews and schedules the medium/long term maintenance, project and
developmental requirements for the operations - Researches
the market for industry best practice principles to keep abreast of latest
technological advances/developments and assessments on all new
methodologies and equipment to ensure applicability of implementation - Selects
new equipment, develops technical specifications and designs details,
hardware and/or software as required. - Plans
and co-ordinates the installations and commissioning of new equipment
according to specifications and user requirements. - Provides
mechanical technical support on all projects undertaken at the operation
and ensures operational readiness - Establishes
and sets best practice standards for equipment, taking cognizance of
safety, health, environmental, technical and legislative requirements - Ensures
technical assurance of the equipment and installations by carrying out
periodic audits, risk assessments and maintaining engineering standards. - Manages
and coordinates the implementation of asset management, safety, health
and environmental programme in area of responsibility - Identifies
and implements creative and innovative ideas to continuously improve and
sustain business performance - Establishes
and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and
partners to ensure achievement of business objectives - Initiates
and coordinates the implementation of projects in accordance with project
management framework
