Medical Laboratory Technologist III
Qualifications:
– Successful completion of an accredited Medical Laboratory Science Program;
– Operator training courses on analyzers including installation, daily operation, troubleshooting and training of other technologists in same;
– Meditech computer program training;
– Successful completion of the Quality Systems Certificate, (Quality Systems for the Clinical Laboratory – Parts 1,11,111) from the CSMLS, or equivalent and willingness to complete in a timeframe deemed acceptable by the employer;
– Successful completion of Quality Assurance courses in various laboratory areas, and Management training courses will be required, and ongoing participation of further education courses will be a necessity;
– Current and ongoing registration with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science, (CSMLS);
– Minimum of five (5) years full time working experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist in a clinical laboratory, with the last (3) years full time working experience in a Medical Laboratory Technologist 11 full time position preferred;
– Must have the ability to work independently and easily adapt to change;
Duties (Include but not limited to):
– Provides technical expertise, supervises and evaluates the technical work performance of all Laboratory Staff;
– Directing the review, development and implementation of policies, procedures, and programs;
– Ensuring that requirements for accreditation as recommended by Accreditation Canada are met by the Laboratory Department;
– Preparing the work schedule for the department, including the on-call schedule;
– Preparing and submitting payroll and ensuring that payroll cards are kept up-to-date;
– Performing diagnostic laboratory testing in accordance with accepted laboratory standards and the policies and procedures of LGH;
– Planning and organizing workload to ensure the department is running smoothly and efficiently.

Salary:
– LX-30 of the NAPE-LX salary scales $27.70 to $34.88 per hour.
Hours of Work:
– 70 hours biweekly, days, evening and weekend shifts required, in addition to standby and call back duties.
