Job Title: HIV/AIDS Clinical Advisor
Maryland Global initiatives Tanzania Ltd is looking for a suitably qualified
self-motivated person to fill the following position.
Position Title: HIV/AIDS Clinical Advisor Location: Dar es Salaam
Overview
The HIV/AIDS Clinical Advisor will be part of the Tanzania LEAD Clinical Team,
composed of HIV physicians, senior nurse practitioners, adherence and community
treatment specialists, laboratory specialists, and experts in outcomes and
evaluation. This individual will support LEAD in country comprehensive HIV care
and treatment programs, scale up plans, and continuous quality improvement
efforts and interventions in HIV and care and treatment and other related
conditions. The position holder will report to the Country Senior Technical-
Advisor, and be expected to travel approximately 60% of the time.
Responsibilities
Provide didactic and clinical mentoring in comprehensive HIY/AIDS care and treatment
and other related conditions for nurses,
Physicians, clinical officers and other healthcare providers within the
clinical team and at local partner treatment facilities as appropriate
Gather and analyze data and use data to plan and measure performance for
comprehensive HIV/AIDS care and treatment and other related conditions
Collaborate with Program Officers to advise on appropriate partner facility
budgets for comprehensive HIV care for patients
Set budgets with relevant parties for specific trainings and Initiatives
Plan, implement and evaluate new strategies to improve service delivery
Assist in developing curricula for trainings related to the Clinical Team’s
scope of work . Attend meetings, consolidate and write reports, and deliver presentations
to a variety of audiences
Network with local in-country organizations (implementing partners, MoHSW,
other local agencies) involved in HIY care and treatment and related activities
and trainings to promote linkages between points of service and organizations
working providing HIV care and support
Participate in select national HIY care and treatment related initiatives and
ensure that national guidelines are implemented within the LEAD Program
Collaborate closely with relevant LEAD consortium teams to ensure in-country
systems are in place for optimal delivery of HIV/AIDS care in partner regions
Prepare and coordinate with other team members for timely submission of all
required reports, including but not limited to site work plans, trip schedules,
travel schedules and trip reports
Coordinate all staff in each Department and facilitate them to accomplish their
scopes of work for their Department’s site and annual work plans
Prepare adequately for field trips in timeline agreed upon between Team and
Department Leads, other team members, and STA and communicate with program
support staff in a timely manner.
Responsible for implementation of T A trips’ site work plans
Report on implementation of TA activities within the program through compilation
of trip reports and other reporting documents
Qualifications and Experience:
Registered MD or equivalent required.
MMed preferably in Internal Medicine and/or Pediatrics and MPH is an added
advantage Minimum of 3 years of clinical experience required
Minimum of 2 years working in HIV/AIDS care and treatment at the national
and/or international level
Prior experience in HIV / AIDS coordination and comprehensive activities
implementation Current clinical practice License as Medical Officer
Excellent knowledge of national and World Health Organization guidelines on HIV
care and treatment
Prior experience in capacity building, such as planning and facilitating
trainings and providing technical assistance Prior experience in curriculum
development and clinical teaching
Must be a computer literate with knowledge and skills on Ms Word, Ms Excel, and
Ms PowerPoint. Knowledge of any Statistical data package will be an added
advantage
