conservation, development and utilization of land and water resources for the
optimum benefit of residents of the Mackenzie Valley resource management area
of the Northwest Territories, and for all Canadians.
The Regulatory Manager
Based in Yellowknife and reporting to the Regulatory and Technical Director
and/or the Executive Director, the Regulatory Manager will be responsible for
the development, implementation and administration of the regulatory review
process for all land use and water use applications to the Mackenzie Valley
Land and Water Board (MVLWB).
We are seeking an energetic and highly organized individual who will:
• Administer and coordinate the review of all applications for land and water
use for the MVLWB
• Coordinate the Preliminary Screening for all applications to the MVLWB
• Coordinate monitoring of compliance systems by developing and implementing an
audit system for license and permit compliance
• Manage the regulatory review process
• Participate in the communications strategy of the MVLWB
• Perform other related duties as required or as directed by the Regulatory and
Technical Director and/or Executive Director.
The Candidate
You have a university degree (graduate level preferred) in environmental
science, engineering, or a related discipline with 10 years of relevant work
experience, preferably including exposure to the northern industrial
development sectors. You have:
• knowledge of regulatory, environmental, technical, and scientific review
processes;
• knowledge of eco-management theories and practices and legislation,
agreements and policies;
• familiarity with scientific and technical issues related to northern
environmental management;
• strong people and project management skills, and
• excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Equivalencies will be considered. Knowledge of water quality principles,
particularly in the mining sector, would be considered an asset.
Salary: $103,095 – $117,295 plus additional allowances.
