Job type: Part-Time, Year-Round Contract – 25 hours a week
Langley Community Farmers Market Society is currently seeking
applications for a part-time market manager for our weekly farmers
market. This market operates Wednesdays.
The role of the Market Manager is to ensure that the market runs
smoothly, including:
• Recruiting, managing and maintaining market vendors, entertainers
and volunteers
• Recruiting, and managing the activities and performance of the
Assistant Manager(s)
• Maintaining records, collecting vendor fees, and managing on-site
?nancial transactions
• Ensuring vendors and the market operations are in compliance with
all local by-laws, Fraser Health guidelines, and provincial and
federal legislation
• Promoting the market (website, social media, and traditional media
in the community)
• Being present at the weekly market, including set-up and take-down
• Working closely with the Board of the Langley Community Farmers Market
Society
• Engaging in market evaluations throughout the season
Skills/Attributes Required
• Established professional relationships in the Langley Area
• Is a team member with excellent time management and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to problem solve, manage con?ict resolution
• Strong leadership with experience working with volunteers
• Enjoys working in a fast-paced outdoor environment and has no
problem lifting up to 40 lbs of equipment and standing for up to 8
hours
• Engage the network of farmers markets in BC for market improvement
and self-development
• Has a valid drivers’ license with access to their own reliable transportation
• Event and food safety, either through completion of Market Safe or
Food Safe or both
• Outgoing and friendly with a great work ethic and attitude
Education and Experience
• Completion of High School Diploma
• Experience working in a team and coordinating volunteers
• Farmers market management experience preferred
• Marketing experience and event planning are considered assets
Wage: $16 – $18 per hour, depending on experience.
