Kirehe District in Collaboration with KIREHE COMMUNITY BASED WATERSHED MANAGEMENT PROJECT (KWAMP) would like to recruit the BIOGAS FIELD TECHNICIAN and an IRRIGATION ENGINEER.
Duty Station: Kirehe District, Eastern Province
I. BIOGAS FIELD TECHNICIAN
a) Specific duties
Biogas Field Technician will work in Kirehe District and its Sectors with the different stakeholders but in particular with the households, the local contractors and the financial institutions.
He/she has the following specific tasks:
• Assist the district and National Domestic Biogas Program in Rwanda (NDBP)’s promotion campaign by contacting interested farmers, contractors and agents of local authorities and advice in the completion of the NDBP forms;
• Assist farmers, biogas construction companies, the Banque Populaire du Rwanda and local authorities in the completion of forms from the NDBP to obtain subsidy provided by the national program;
• Evaluate the eligible technical conditions of household before construction
• Monitor the quality of plants under construction and certify completion forms for completed units.
• Monitor the after-sales services provided by the biogas companies and ensure that defects are corrected in time.
• Report any defects observed in bio digesters to the district’s authorities and inform NDBP,
• Contribute in training sessions for the biogas users and technicians
• Assist companies and local organizations in conducting users training sessions, collect data on the digesters from the field and provide monthly field reports for the district as well as for the NDBP
• Undertake any other task assigned by the District Authorities.
b) The required profile
The successful candidate must have the following qualifications and/or skills:
• Technical educational in civil construction, renewable energy or agricultural subjects A1 (minimum),
• At least 2 years relevant working experience (supervision of biogas construction) in rural areas;
• Good knowledge of the rural sector in Rwanda;
• Experience and/or willingness to ride a motorcycle as transport in the rural areas
• Good verbal and written communication skills in Kinyarwanda, French and/or English.
• Having received training in biogas technology is an added advantage
II. IRRIGATION ENGINEER
a) Specific duties
• Provide general support to the feasibility studies, planning and tendering of irrigation works in the district;
• Provide oversight and supervision for the installation or rehabilitation works on irrigation schemes in the district, and issue works completion certificates;
• Provide technical advice to both the district staff and the water user associations (WUAs) on the maintenance of irrigation schemes;
• Liaise with the Water Management Officer and the Water Management Field Facilitators to ensure that the WUAs’ water management activities in the irrigation schemes are efficient and sustainable;
• Regularly review the state of repair of the irrigation works in the district.
b) The required profile
• The Irrigation Engineer must have a degree in a field of studies of civil engineering, agriculture engineering or irrigation development.
• Two years of former professional experience are required, preferably in the rural sector and being interested in the country small holders.
• Experience and/or willingness to ride a motorcycle as transport in the rural areas.
• Good verbal and written communication skills in Kinyarwanda, French and/or English.

3. Duration of the assignment
The duration of the contract shall initially be for a period of 24 months (with a 6 month probation period) and will be renewable depending on performance and program requirements.
