operating in Rwanda since 1996, strengthening reconciliation, reintegration and
conflict management among people affected by conflicts and genocide against the
Tutsi in the country.
With
funding from European Commission in Rwanda, International Alert and Pro-Femmes
Twese Hamwe is implementing the Inclusive Engagement for Change Project (IE4CP).
The project works in three districts; Bugesera, Huye and Nyamagabe.
Ultimately, the project seeks to contribute to sustainable agriculture and food
security which are recognised as a priority in Rwanda’s Economic Development
and Poverty Reduction Strategy (EDPRS II 2013-2018) and both expected to
stimulate economic growth and greatly contribute to poverty reduction. By
ensuring participatory, transparent and accountable district planning and

affect agricultural value chains and thus limit the production and value
addition potentialities of crops and livestock products; all impacting food
security. Cooperatives and producer organizations are recognised worldwide as
key instruments for increasing food security. The Government of Rwanda
encourages farmers to form cooperatives that address felt needs at grass root
level thus contributing to their local development. Furthermore, small-scale
producers are encouraged to join cooperatives, which offer collective
bargaining power, access to markets, a greater share of the values created in
the food chain and a stronger basis for innovation and provision of services.

are much discrepancies in book keeping and apparent lack of financial reporting
skills.

our recent assessment in the three districts of the project coverage, it
was revealed that there is crucial need of capacity development in
agricultural cooperatives and CSOs working in those areas. The findings
suggested that areas which need attention are Advocacy, Strategic Planning,

the necessary relevant International Alert documents, including but not
limited to, the Capacity Needs Assessment Report 2016, IE4C Project
document etc. - Establish
good working relationships with project officials; - Through
the discussions with staff members, identify and prioritize areas in
training for capacity development in the three districts related to core
activities. The consultant shall; - Develop
a comprehensive training manual for CSOs and farmers cooperatives
including; Training modules, facilitator’s guide, training tools and score
sheet to measure level of understanding at each end of session - Train
30 trainers in 6 days

least advanced university degree (Masters) preferably MBA and/or Master in
Cooperatives. - In-depth
understanding and knowledge of the cooperatives and NGOs operating in
agriculture sector in Rwanda - At
least 5 years of proven track record in conducting coaching and training
in cooperatives and NGOs. - Certified
Agri-BDS is preferable and having a knowledge in cooperatives Business
Development Services (BDS) and is required. - Excellent
oral, written, communication and reporting skills - Excellent
knowledge of English and Kinyarwanda
